Colour Stories

On Friday, Nov. 22, the 4th annual “Colour Stories” design show, put on by design students at Cleveland State University took place at the Middaugh Building from 6-9 p.m. It was in conjunction with the Cleveland State branch of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). Posters were made to display what colors mean to each individual artist and were part of a larger campaign. The images on the right with the light bulbs with the brains in them were made as part of a campaign to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s, for example. According to Gia Paulovich, a Cleveland State design student and one of the event’s hosts, the event was there to showcase the work that the students did throughout the semester. Bystanders had a chance to review the students’ work and help themselves to snacks. “We have several different projects out from the beginning of the design curriculum to the end,” Paulovich said. 'Avengers: Endgame' Discussion

I'm not sure when I got hooked on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I remember seeing 'The Avengers' in 2012 and not really caring because the movie I was REALLY anticipating was 'The Dark Knight Rises,' coming out later that summer. I liked the movie just fine, but I think I finally got hooked with, what remains to this day my favorite MCU film, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.'  By the time 'Infinity War' came around last year, I'd been counting down the days until its release.  Watching pirated trailers, reading fan theories, basically turning into Ted Mosby (subbing Avengers movies for 'Star Wars').  I've now seen the movie twice.  The rules are, you can live tweet 'Game of Thrones,' but thou shalt not discuss 'Endgame' spoilers. The Sashi Wars

Who gets credit for the recent (semi) success of the Cleveland Browns?  It's a radio topic more common than, "Whose better, MJ or LeBron?" at least in the Cleveland area.  You're either pro Sashi or anti-Sashi, with nothing in between.  Here, I have compiled a list of all the major events that took place at the time that Sashi held the general manager position of the Browns.  He occupied the position from January 3, 2016, to December 7, 2017. I did not count the hire of head coach Hue Jackson, as that was the choice of Jimmy and Dee Haslam, which is I know, shocking, given their track record. The Cavs, football picks, and why I'm Rocky getting his ass kicked by Apollo Creed

The Cleveland Cavaliers are back in the news again.  It's oddly the first thing that has happened to the Cavs since they played in the 2018 NBA Finals and nothing has happened since then and nothing you can say will change my mind. Kyrie Irving called LeBron (like really, do I need to include his last name for you to know who I'm talking about?  LeBron... Smith?) and apologized.  Since the Cavs apparently don't play basketball anymore, I'm gonna talk at nauseam about it. The first thing I honestly thought about were all the people on Cavs Twitter that are always, "It'S tIme TO mOvE oN, LeBroN DoEsn'T plAY HeRE anYmoRe."  Oh for fuck sake.  The Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that used to wear THESE JERSEYS made the NBA Finals FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS. The Browns hire Freddie, and what's been happening in my life in the month since my last post

I've been sick 3(!) seperate times in the last month.  I've had more diarrhea than Steelers fans watching the Browns' last drive against the Ravens, you know, the one that knocked them out of the playoffs (HAHAHA).  By the way, 'diarrhea' might be the hardest word to spell in the English language.  Maybe that's why they spelled it that way - the wordmakers were going to make it as inconvenient as possible for anybody to ever use it.  Oops. So now that we got the important stuff out of the way, on to today's update:  The Browns hired Freddie Kitchens to be their head coach.  Here is my take on the hire:  I have no take. Allow me to explain.  For the better part of the last month, I have seen #BrownsTwitter have one opinion after another about who the next head coach of the Browns should be.  "Don't hire Mike McCarthy, he failed in Green Bay!"  "Adam Gase?  The guy that the players supposedly hated?  PASS."  "Bruce Arians,

The Return of Carlos Santana

Indians Twitter is a funny place.  It's as if people are just suddenly grasping that the Indians aren't the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Dodgers.  Yes, the Indians are going to make moves to try and save themselves money, but that doesn't mean everything they do is strictly a salary dump.   Would you rather have 2 years of Carlos Santana for $29 million or 1 year of Edwin Encarnacion for $25 million?  Before you answer that, keep some things in mind: 1.)  Encarnacion has seen his WAR decline in each of the last 4 seasons: 4.5 in 2015, 3.8 in 2016, 2.8 in 2017, and 1.9 last season.  For a hitter that depends on his ability to hit a fastball out of the ballpark, entering his age 36 season, those are rapidly declining numbers.  Yes, he still hit 32 home runs last season and drove in over 100 runs, but be honest - did you ever feel that presence in the lineup?  The Houston Astros sure didn't.  Maybe that isn't fair, as not even team MVP Jose Ramirez was hitti

My Thoughts on the Indians' Off-Season (so far)

The Indians traded Yan Gomes today, and as can be expected, Twitter was completely rationale about the move.  Ok, not so much. But this was a move that was necessary for the Cleveland Indians, even though it does not directly improve the 2019 roster.  Gomes is due a little over $27 million over the next 3 seasons.  It's not a ridiculous sum, but for a team that operates in the mid market, it's steep for a catcher that has largely underachieved for the past 3 seasons. The Indians operated at a $145 million payroll last season, the largest in club history and 14th highest in the big leagues.  That doesn't account for arbitration eligible players, such as Francisco Lindor, who will go from making $500,000 in 2018 to around $10 million in 2019.  Trevor Bauer's salary will jump from just over $6 million to somewhere in the $10 million range.  Corey Kluber will make over $17 million next season, getting a raise due to a kicker in his contract that set in once he finish
